Who is the Childcare First Aid Course for?

This course is for educators, childcare support staff, outside of school hours care (OSHC) workers and teachers. But anyone who works with children at sporting clubs and community organisations would also benefit. Because childhood allergies are becoming more common, there is a focus on asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies. That means practical training in the use of EpiPens and inhalers.

Childcare First Aid Course Content

This Childcare First Aid course will teach you how to respond to an emergency. That means performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on adult, child and baby manikins. As well as this, you will learn how to deal with a wide range of eventualities such as choking, snakebite, asthma and the severe allergic reaction anaphylaxis.

The course content is both theory and practical training. For instance, you will learn bandaging techniques and how to use an AED defibrillator. In addition, there is training with bronchodilators (asthma puffers) and adrenaline auto-injectors (EpiPens).
