HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Now HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

This popular CPR course trains you in the life-saving techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). It’s a practical hands-on course that reinforces the information we teach about the relevant differences in the anatomy of adults, children and babies. In this course, you’ll get a chance to practice the taught techniques on adult, child and infant manikins.

Because our training aligns with the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines (ARC), you can be confident that it is the best practice.

In a breathing or cardiac emergency, you will learn to apply essential emergency life support, perform CPR and use a defibrillator until professional medical help arrives.

It’s a nationally recognised course that satisfies 1 unit of competency from the new government-approved HLT Health Training Package.

Because the CPR and AED course is necessary training, we recommend it to everyone. Still, it is beneficial for those responsible for first aid in the workplace. If your workplace is considering getting a defibrillator, then automated external defibrillator (AED) training is essential.

**Please note that because this course requires that all participants undertake a practical demonstration of CPR on the floor on a manikin for 2 minutes, you will need to be physically capable of kneeling and doing compressions. **

Provide CPR and AED Course Delivery

The course is delivered face-to-face, either in a classroom or at your workplace. We will also provide you with a Learners Guide via email at the time of registration, and this enables you to read the theory before you attend the in-person session.

During the session, you are assessed with multiple-choice questions on your understanding of the content and by performing CPR and using a defibrillator on manikins.

Why CPR?

The simple answer is that it saves lives and that the course is a mandatory requirement in certain occupations.

The CPR technique combines compressing the chest in the correct spot and blowing air into the lungs to maintain the flow of oxygenated blood to major organs when someone’s breathing or heart has stopped.

Training in this lifesaving procedure means that you can prevent someone from suffering permanent brain damage or dying due to oxygen deprivation.
